Milk shake

When we are talking about milk, what can be better use of milk than a milk shake? Milk shake is a concoction of a fruit, milk, sugar, ice and optional ice-cream. It is served chilled. A milk shake is a complete meal in itself. Ice-cream adds to the thickness of the beverage, making it heavier. It can be said that a milk shake is a high calorie drink but when served alone, it is fulfilling, with all the goodness of milk and fruit of your choice. Generally a banana is added, even if banana shake is not desired to give volume and silkiness to the shake.

Here we come with some milkshake recipes that can be served as an evening snack item to children, for iftar or taken as breakfast when you don’t feel like eating anything.

Mango shake

  • 1 mango, peeled and cubed
  • 2 cups milk
  • Sugar or honey, to taste
  • Ice cubes, as required

 
Put mango milk and sugar in a blender and blend until smooth. If the consistency is not thick as you like it, you can even add more mangoes. Add ice cubes and blend to crush the ice into very fine particles.

Pour into tall glasses and serve chilled.

Vanilla shake

  • 1 cup vanilla ice-cream
  • ½ cup milk
  • Sugar, to taste, optional
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence
  • Ice cubes, if required

 
Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve chilled.

Chocolate shake

  • ½ cup vanilla ice-cream
  • ½ cup milk
  • 4 -5 tbsp chocolate syrup, more if you want it extra chocolatey
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Ice cubes, if required

 
Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Thin consistency of this shake is good. Put a scoop of vanilla ice-cream in a glass. Pour chocolate shake over the ice-cream. Serve.
